GRAND AM SERIES 2009

PENSKE AND PORSCHE TEAM UP FOR 2009 SEASON Two of the more polished names in racing, Penske and Porsche, will team up to enter the No. 7 Riley Mk XX Daytona Prototype for the 2009 Gran-Am Rolex Sports Car series. Another notable pair, Porsche factory drivers Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas, will get most of the wheel time. They have driven for Penske and Porsche since 2006, sharing 14 wins and two driver championships. Neither is a stranger to the series. Bernhard had an overall win at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 2003 and a class win in 2002 in six career starts at the day-long race. Dumas finished third in class in 2002 and 2008, and he has competed there four times. They'll be behind the wheel of a Daytona Prototype with a Porsche 4.0-liter flat six, similar to the engines found in Porsche 911 street cars. Porsche and Penske have worked together since 1972, and the collaboration has netted more than 35 wins and five championships.
